As Coro California’s Senior Director of Programs & Training, Abril oversees the Fellows Program in Public Affairs as well as the Youth Climate Fellowship Program in Southern California. Prior to Coro, Abril served as Associate Director of Programs & Evaluation at Arts for LA, where she helped oversee ACTIVATE, the organization’s signature arts advocacy leadership program; managed key civic engagement events and advocacy campaigns; drove evaluation practices; and developed the Laura Zucker Fellowship for Policy & Research. A trained scientist, Abril brings years of objective, intentional inquiry; data-driven evaluation; and systems-level analysis experience to her work.
Abril holds a B.A. in Biology from Pomona College and studied marine biodiversity and evolutionary genetics as a doctoral student in the Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at UCLA and at the Indonesian Biodiversity Research Center (now Bionesia) in Denpasar, Bali. She is also an alumna of Coro’s Women in Leadership program.
